Annual General Meeting of the OVHS
Join the Ottawa Valley Historical Society at its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday March 29th. Guest speaker for the evening is author Christine Jackson who will be tracing the early Ottawa Valley history of the entrepreneurial and pioneering riverboat captain, Captain Daniel Keyworth Cowley, or "Captain Dan" as he was to become known, and his connection with the iconic lost astrolabe and Canada's national winter game. Admission is by donation to this meeting and talk. The annual general meeting and talk is open to the public.
Whether you are interested in becoming a new member, just listening to the talk or renewing your membership in the OVHS we invite you to come out. There are board vacancies in the executive right now for people who may be interested in coming on the Ottawa Valley Historical Society board of directors. Light refreshments will be served. The Champlain Trail Museum and Pioneer Village is the largest Museum in Renfrew County with more than 10,000 artifacts among its collection. Located in Pembroke, the Museum is owned and operated by the Ottawa Valley Historical Society and is funding by the municipalities of Pembroke and Laurentian Valley.
